Amazon Photos can still be used to organize and share photos and videos.
Customers of Amazon Drive were notified today via email that the cloud storage service is closing.
Launched in 2011, Amazon Drive, formerly known as Amazon Cloud Drive, offers cloud storage, file backup, file sharing, and photo printing. However, Amazon Photos is now the main focus, and Drive will stop being supported on December 31, 2023. That gives users a very kind window of 17 months to change how they use cloud storage.
However, there are a few significant dates that need to be remembered first. The Amazon Drive app will no longer be available in the iOS(Opens in a new window) and Android(Opens in a new window) app stores as of October 31 this year. After January 31st of the following year, you will only be able to view and download files from the Amazon Drive website. Amazon will no longer support uploading files to the website.
Drive's demise simply means that any files not supported by Amazon Photos will need to find a new home on another cloud storage service since Amazon Photos essentially provides the same service. You have many great options to choose from, but you must first download your files from Drive before they vanish.
