audio technica ath-m50x equalizer settings : (step-by-step)

The ATH-M50X is a great-sounding pair of headphones, which unfortunately didn't get our "Editor's Choice" award. The reason for this is the extremely low bass/sub-bass reproduction, which doesn't even reach the recommended -6dB mark.

We found a big rise in the treble region, which makes the headphones to be extremely bright. For this reason, we have added the "warm" preset to the equalizer of the ATH-M50X in our guide, which will flatten these peaks and give you a crisper sound with better bass response.

If you are using a DAW or some other software for the equalizer with the ATH-M50X, then the following is what we recommend you do.

I use an equalizer mostly to reduce any harshness in the treble region and to boost the bass. I started by setting the treble to −1.5dB and boosting the bass to +1.5dB. I found that the bass was a bit too much and so I reduced it to +1dB.

I then went into the treble region and gradually reduced the treble. I started with −1.0dB and then reduced it to −2.0dB. I found that that was still too much so I reduced it to −3.0dB and ended there.

Are audio technicas good for mixing?

If you are interested in mixing and mastering, then audio Technica is an excellent investment.

They are very affordable, and always deliver great results. I find them particularly useful when I want a specific sound (they offer great clarity and definition) which is impossible to achieve with cheap earphones.

However, if you are just into listening to music, then I will recommend you to go for the more expensive choices. That way you won’t have to buy another pair of earphones, just to check if their sound is any good.

Is Audio-Technica m50 good for gaming?

Absolutely! The M-50s are great headphones for gaming and pretty much any other activity. Given that the M-50s are closed-back, they will not be ideal for monitoring and mixing but the build quality and sound signature on the M-50s make them perfect for casual listening and gaming.

The soundstage on the M-50s is great and you can hear the positional audio in games very well. Not only that, but the M-50s also have a hard plastic carrying case, which is great for transporting the headphones to your LAN parties as well as protecting your headphones from any accidental damage.
