On January 12, 2019, 94-year-old Dr. Michiaki Takahashi was honored with a special ceremony at his hospital in Tokyo. The celebration included performances by the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra and vocalists from Nippon TV’s “Sekai no Owari Theatre” program, who sang classics like “Ave Maria” and “Nessun Dorma.” In attendance were many of Takahashi's friends and colleagues from around the world including fellow Nobel Laureates Professor Robert Kastner (Chemistry) and Sir John Sulston (Biochemistry), as well as Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe himself!
