Netcat is an acronym for Network cat (also known as a net cat). It’s a command-line utility that allows users to establish a connection with a remote computer and transfer data using TCP protocol. The connection can be made through the console, Telnet, SSH, or diagnostic ports. Netcat can be used to debug network issues and perform network assessments. 

 Netcat and NCAT are used for different purposes. NCAT and Netcat are used for performing serial communication tasks; such as sending and receiving data from a remote computer. To send data to a remote computer, you can use NC command followed by a data string, like this— NC 10.1.1.10 hmac-sha2-512 authentication 0x1234; while receiving data you can use the same command but replace the local IP address with the remote IP address, like this— nc 10.1.1.10 hmac-sha2-512 authentication 0x1234; To establish a connection to a remote computer, you can use NC command followed by port number on which you want to establish a connection (e.g., 10), user name (e.g., root) and password (e.g., abcdefgh); while receiving data you can use the same command but replace local IP with the remote one; such as nc 10 . 1 . 1 . 1 hmac-sha2-512 authentication 0x1234; .
