Vscode-annotations: Make Your Javascript More Relevant With Annotations

Use annotations inside VSCode to describe how to use your code, how to integrate it with others, and more.

Introduction

The Visual Studio Marketplace is home to extensions, tools, and more for Visual Studio and other Microsoft products. Learn how to add extensions to VS Code, or browse through hundreds of extensions that help you do more with your code.

Section: Adding Extensions To VSCode

Takeaway: You can install an extension directly in the Marketplace by clicking "Get" next to the desired item. You will have to restart Visual Studio after installing an extension. If you have problems installing an extension, try uninstalling it first then reinstall it again. If you're still having troubles try opening up a ticket on GitHub or emailing us at vscode@microsoft.com with details about your issue (if possible). We'll be glad to help!

Visual Studio Marketplace extension for creating code annotations

vscode-annotations is a Visual Studio Marketplace extension that allows you to create and manage code annotations directly in your source code files. It is compatible with both C# and JavaScript and works with any editor window open in Visual Studio Code.

Language Navigator

Language Navigator is an alternative code navigator to the default one in Visual Studio Code. It's a free extension that can be installed from the Marketplace, or via the command line:

  • code --install-extension olekdj.language-navigator
  • If you want to make changes and contribute, head over to the Language Navigator GitHub project page and get involved!
  • The downside is that this has a green underline everywhere. I'm not sure if it's the extension or vscode default.

The downside is that this has a green underline everywhere. I'm not sure if it's the extension or vscode default. To change the color of the underline, go to settings and search for "underline." You will see an option there that says "Underlined text" and you can change its color there.

To make the background of your text match your cursor (blue in my case), go to settings again and search for "color scheme." Select 'VS Default Blue' and all text should now match your cursor color, as well as any other colors you have set up.

Conclusion

Visual Studio Code is the most powerful and robust editor for web developers. However, it still lacks some features that are available in other editors. One of these features is code highlighting which is why we have created this plugin called Vscode-Annotations.

It provides a way to highlight code by adding comments at specific locations on your project files which will allow you to quickly find things like errors or warnings even through thousands of lines of code! The good thing about this plugin is that it uses the same syntax as VS Code itself so you don't need any special knowledge about how things work - just type '//' followed by anything else (even spaces) and press enter! Also, note that if you want more control over what gets highlighted then use our second version which allows defining custom rules in JSON format.
